Frederick was caught trying to escape Prussia into England with his friend, Hans Herman Von Katte, because of they were unsatisfied with their home lives. Hans Herman Von Katte was then executed with Frederick forced to watch. -
Frederick gets married
Fredrick's unsuccessful marriage with Elizabeth Christine of Brunswick was arranged by his father. -
Frederick becomes king of Prussia
When Fredrick's father died in 1740 he was the next in line to become king and took over the empire. -
Silesian War Begins
Frederick invades the territory called Silesia despite being unprovoked, beginning the First Silesian War. -
Frederick conquers Silesia
Peace is mad with the Austrian territory of Silesia and Frederick becomes the ruler of a majority of the area. -
The Seven Years' War begins
Frederick invades Austria's ally, Saxony, with his ally, Great Britain. This begins the Seven Years' War. Even though though won many battles there was no real winner of the war. -
Conclusion of the Seven Years' War
When the Seven Years' War ends, Prussia is left without any new land. However, Frederick keeps his current territory and Prussia becomes one of Europe's most powerful countries. -
Frederick makes the Furstenbund
Frederick creates the Furstenbund which is an alliance of princes in the Holy Roman Empire. Created to to protect the empire. -
Frederick's death
On August 17th 1786, Frederick passed away in Potsdam, Prussia at 74 years old.
