At Baltimore his master's wife Mrs. Auld teaches him his letters and how to read, but soon his master finds out and stops this immediately. -

Frederick is sent to Mr. Covey and after a while he had broken him, made him back into a slave. -

Frederick teaches the other slaves how to read and wright, the masters think they and boxing each other. -
