    Frederick is born around this time. He isn't sure when he was born since no one took time to fiind the exact dates. He decided to call this his birth day since he heard talks of people mentioning that he was around a certain age

    Since 1819-1923 Frederick was raised by his grandmother. As a child he almost never saw his mother. He was too young to work so he lived at her house on the outskirts of the plantation.

    Frederick moves away from Colonel Lloyd's plantation to the house of Sophia Auld. She was nice and kind to Frederick.

    Frederick is tought how to read by Sophia Auld. Hugh Auld stops the lessons because he believes that by teaching a slave to read they will try to rebel. Frederick didn't stop though. He went outside with the other kids and got them to teach him.

    Frederick starts working at a shipyard for about a year. He would be bossed around by all the others to get them equipment or do different tasks. He earned a bit of money around this time but had to pay part of it to Hugh Auld. During this time he practiced reading in secret.

    Frederick is sent back to St. Micheals where he works for Thomas Auld. During this time he tought people there how to read. Thomas decided to stop it before the slaves decided to rebel.

    Frederick borrowed some papers from a free black sailor and escaped. Later he married Anna Murray. The minister was James W.C. an escaped slave from Maryland.

    After a while Frederick moves to Europe where he talked about slavery in Brittian and Ireland. Many friends of his raised money to buy his freedom from Hugh Auld. they paid $711.66
  • The Emancipation Proclamation

    President Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamantion abolishing slavery. Later in February Frederick is apointed the recruiter for the 54th. About 180,000 African Americans fought in the Civil War for the Union's side.
  • Frederick dies

    Frederick dies
    Frederick was speaking at the National Council of Women. He went home and later that night he died. He died of a heart attack that night while he was telling abou thet meeting to his wife.
