Francesco Meets World
Italian mannerist, painter, architect and sculptor Francesco Primaticcio was born during the Renaissance in Bologna. He spent most of his career in France. He was student of Giulio Romano in Mantua Palazzo del Te. He and Rosso Fiorentino achieved one of the most beautiful brilliantly done masterpieces yet today in Fountainebleau. He was also good friends with king Henry VIII. -

Working in Mantua
Francesco Primaticcio worked in Mantua from 1525 to 1532. He was taught by Giulio Romano in the Palazzo del Te---where Giulio instructed one of the most intricate programs of mannerist art in all of Italy during the Renaissance, it stood for an order of mythological scenes and motifs in frescoes and stucco reliefs in a decorative manner. -

Fountainebleau
Francesco Primaticcio was called to France to take part on the royal palace of Francis I decorations at Fountainebleau. He managed to impress everyone there since he did as Giulio Romano had taught him a skilled knowledge of; classical nymohs, satyrs, Roman gods and goddesses, and a new era of paintings mixed with stuccoes that decorated the French palace for the next 150 years.. It is said that these type of paintings where introduced by Primaticcio himself! -

Rape of Helene was one of Francesco's famous paintings, painted between 1530 and 1539 on a canvas by oil. It is currently found in Bowes Museum.

The Holy Family
Between 1541 and 1543, Francesco Primaticcio, painted one of the most well known paintings called The Holy Family with Sts Elisabeth and John the Baptist, an oil on slate painting. It is currently located in Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

During the Renaissance, portraits were extremely famous because during that era, art was to be focused on a single person, the individuality of a person was the main idea. Francesco Primaticcio had painted Diane de Portiers, a French noblewoman. It was an oil on slate painting. It is currently located at Chateu d'Anet, Eure-Et-Loir in France today. -

After all his accomplishments, Francesco Primaticcio died at 66. Although the precise death of Francesco is unknown, his art is still admired in many European art museums.
