The Battle of Bastille Saint-Antoine
A huge and angry mob had gathered at the Bastille prison in Paris. They were armed with muskets, swords, and other weapons. The military from Bastille's governor of Bernard-René Jordan couldn't hold them back. Bernard-René Jordan soon raised a white flag and was arrested. Afterward he was killed by the angry mob. The people were mad because upper-class citizens, such as Bernard-René Jordan, had so much luxury while the lower-class were left with little food and money. -
March to Versailles
Women marched to the city of Versailles, the city where the King and Queen lived. They demanded bread and for the King and Queen to come with them to Paris to see what they have done. Although France had very fertile land, the King and Queen took most of what was grown. This left little for the people and angered them. -
Flight of King Louis XVI and His Family
King Louis XVI realized that the French Revolution was becoming too dangerous, and fled his own country. He was caught in Varennes, France, almost making it to Austria. When he was caught by the authorities, the revolutionary government was very sour and hostile towards the royal family. -
Siege on Tuileries Palace
People of France sieged the heavily guarded city of Tuileries. Tuileries was the new home of the royal family and the Legislative Assembly. The objectives of the siege were to convince the government to enforce the Legislative Assembly's rulings, defend France against foreign invasion, and preserve the spirit of the French Constitution of 1791. -

The First French Republic lasted until 1804 under Napoleon. It was created because of the fall of the monarchy. -

First Emperor of France Crowned
Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte was from the House of Bonaparte. This military leader conquered many lands and changed a lot of Europe. His rank went from captain, to commander, to general, and later to self-crowned emperor. He also fought wars in Netherlands, Austria, Italy, Malta, Syria, and Egypt. He put an end to post-revolution chaos, turned Paris from a violent city into a beautiful city, founded the French Banking System, and created a fair, modern legal code that is still stands to this day. -
The Battle of Waterloo ( La Belle Alliance )
The Battle of Waterloo was the final defeat for Napoleon. He had led 72,000 men fight against 68,000 British men. This battle was right after his 2 year exile to Edna. It was his last campaign. He was defeated by the Seventh Coalition, a Prussian Army, and an Anglo-Allied Army. This led to the French who exiled him to St. Helens to be watched by Sir Hudson Lowe. After 6 years of exile, Napoleon died of stomach cancer.
