France's economy drops.
France’s economy was dropping, the French Government owed a lot of money. Thanks to how much money the king needed, the Bankers stopped wanting to lend money to the King. Adding on, living in France became way more expensive thanks to crop failures. -
Meeting the Estates General
The Estates-General assembly occurred in Versailles because the king wanted to find a solution to the economic crisis that was occurring on in the country. This assembly included the three estates, they were informed that this was the chance for them to have a word in what was happening in France but it turned out not to be the truth, the king still made the final decision. -
The National Assembly & The Tennis Court Oath
Thanks to the peasants not being heard in the Estates-General assembly, the representatives of the third estate joined together in a tennis court and formed the National Assembly, taking a lot of King Louis XVI’s power away which started a representative form of government. -
Storming of the Bastille
A group of people stormed the Bastille, a prison in Paris, the 3rd estate started off by killing the guards and looking for guns (including gunpowder). The fall of the Bastille became a symbolic act of the French Revolution because this prison symbolized the power of the monarchs. -
No more divisions between estates
Some Noblemen joined the National Assembl, now the first and second estates' tax privileges are abolished. Feudalism has now ended. -

Bread Riots
Prices of bread rose a ton thanks to bad weather, and as a result, thousands of women from Paris (influding males) marched to the Castle of Versailles, they got the king King Louis XVI and queen (Marie Antoinette) to go to Paris and they were forced to go. -

The Prussian troops were fighting in Paris and the Prussian commander threatened to destroy the city, if the revolutionaries harmed any member of the royal family, (the king or queen or their sons) because of this, the revolutionaires headed to Tuileries, this was a palace where the family was staying. The peseants killed the guards and imprisoned the whole royal family. -
Jacobins Takes Over the Government
There were rumors going around that the supporters of the King were planning to escape the prisons and try to take control of the city again. So the citizens acted. They raided the prisons and killed over 1,000 prisoners which included nobles, priests and royalist sympathizers. But also, Jacobins takes over the government. -
No more Monarchy
France finally got rid of monarchy. -
Royal Family dead
The royal family is finally executed with a Guillotine, thanks to them being hated by the people. -
Eager french for war
The National Convention ordered a draft of about 300,000 French citizens to fight in the war against Great Britain, Holland, Spain, Austria and Prussia. -
New Dictator
Jacobins Robesspeare takes over France. By becoming the leader of leader of Committe of Public Safety- the “Reign of Terror” for one year -
The reign of terror ends
Robespierre is deposed, arrested and executed- end of Reign of Terror -
New moderate government
Moderate government created, called the Directory -
