    This was a confrontation between the Soviet Union and Cuba on one side, and the United states on the other side. This lasted a total of 13 days. This was initiated when the United States discovered the Soviets were deploying ballistic missiles in Cuba. This most relates to Key Concept 8.1, because it describes the debate over missiles and a large nuclear arsenal, and the overall US involvement in this debate.     This was a march for jobs and freedom. Around 300,000 people marched that consisted of religious leaders and civil rights activists. This is also when Martin Luther King gave the famous and iconic ¨I Have A Dream Speech.¨

    Martin Luther King - Assassinated
    Martin Luther King was assassinated outside of his hotel room by James Earl Ray. MLK was a civil rights leader who made a great impact on the lives of many Americans. He inspired many people with his actions, and many were heartbroken and furious to learn of his assassination. This relates most to Key concept 8.2, because of his role in civil rights and how MLK combatted racial discrimination and injustices, and his lasting impact on American history.     Kent State Massacre
    Students at the Kent State Massacre protested against the bombing of Cambodia by US military forces. During the protests, The National Guard killed 4 students, and injured 9. This is an example of mistrust with the government.     The Watergate Scandal was when multiple burglars were arrested in the office of the Democratic National Committee, located in the Watergate in D.C. They were connected Nixon’s reelection campaign, and were caught stealing documents and wiretapping. Nixon tried to cover it up, and later resigned. This relates to Key Concept 8.2, as it describes how there was a rise in political scandals and corruption, which is what the Water Gate Scandal was.     The United States pulled out of the War. US military involvement completely stopped. Saigon fell to communist forces, and the last of the Americans were airlifted out. This was the end of the 20 year long war.

The crisis was thought to have been started by the rise of hippie culture, who among other things, advocated for sexual freedom.     Reaganomics were the economic policies that were promoted by president Ronald Reagan. These policies were to reduce the growth of government spending, reduce the federal income tax and capital gains tax, reduce government regulation, and reduce inflation.
