The salt tax made it illegal to buy or sell salt, the only way to get it was from Britain's high prices, it's monopoly. So Gandhi organized a 240 mile journey consisting of only men to protest. -

He did not believe you should follow a law that is unjust so he always told people to stand up for their belifs. he always did this but never by fighting. He would tell people to do this without anger, foul language, not to back down and to follow the consequences. -

He had a dream of being independent of Britain so in order to get freedom people burned british textiles, led marches. this was all to break away from britain's unfair laws. -

India's independence is delayed, go to war without wanting to. -

Seperate Muslim State
Britain agreed to let India be on its own but since the Hindu's and Muslims were so different they argued a lot so they created a seperate muslim state of Pakistan. -

India seperates into Pakistan, the muslim state, and India , the Hindu state. -

India refused to be part of the war since they didn't have their own freedom
