Forest fought in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam war lasted from Nov,11 1955 to April,30 1975. This was because the communist who was North Vietnam and its southern allies, known as the Viet Cong,were against South Vietnam and its ally, which was the United States.

JFK assaination
Forest was greeted by JFK and congratulated for the Alabama football team. JFK was shot in a Texas parade by Lee Harvey Oswald .He allegedly fired three shots,fatally wounding President Kennedy. Kennedy was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital when he was 46.

Black Panther Party
Forest walked into a Black Panther meeting. The Black Panther Party, was original named the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.It was an African American revolutionary party, that was founded in 1966 in Oakland, California, by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. The party’s original purpose was to patrol African American neighborhoods to protect residents from acts of police brutality.

Moon Landing
While everyone was paying attention to Forrest playing ping-pong they missed the moon landing on tv. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two humans on the Moon. The Watergate Scandal
Forest saw flash lights in one of the rooms at the Watergate hotel.
President Nixon at the time paid former FBI and CIA agents to break into the offices of the Democratic Party and George McGovern,who was the Presidential candidate. Nixon listened to phone lines and secret papers were stolen.

Hurricane Carmen
The Hurricane destroyed all the strip boats except for Forrest's. Hurricane Carmen was the most intense tropical cyclone of the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season. A destructive and widespread storm, Carmen originated as a tropical disturbance that emerged from Africa toward the end of August. In the movie Forrest and Lt. Dan get caught up in Hurricane Carmen. -
Founding Apple Inc.
Forest Invests in a "fruit company" which is acutally the Apple Company. Wayne, Jobs, and Wozniak founded Apple Computer on April 1, 1976. Serving as the Apple’s adult supervision, Wayne drew the first Apple logo, wrote the three men’s original partnership agreement, and wrote the Apple I manual.

HIV/AIDS breakout
Jenny had a virus that was untreatable. During this time the AIDS epidemics caused by HIV, found its way to the United States as early as 1960, but was first noticed after doctors discovered clusters of Kaposi's sarcoma and pneumocystic pneumonia in young gay men in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco in 1981.
