The Vietnam War was a war against America/South Vietnam and North Vietnam/Vietcong. The cause of this war was to contain communism. This war was a regretful one because it is kind of the first war that the Americans actually lost. -
Little Rock Nine
Little Rocck Nine DcumentaryAfter the case, Brown vs. Board of Education, all schools were required to be integrated. Many schools ignored this new law. On September 3 1957 nine African American Students tried to go to Little Rock's Central High. This caused a big contreversy, even the governor attempted to stop the students from attending the school. However, the federal government did get involved and the students were escorted from and to the school by the national guard for nearly a year. -
The U-2 incident
The 1960 U-2 incident occurred during the Cold War on 1 May 1960, during the presidency of Dwight Eisenhower and during the leadership of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, when a United States U-2 spy plane was shot down over the airspace of the Soviet Union. The United States government at first denied the plane's purpose and mission, but then was forced to admit its role as a covert surveillance aircraft when the Soviet government produced its intact remains and surviving pilot. -

Lyndon B. Johnson was vice president for J.F.K. but after J.F.K.'s assassination, johnson becaomes president. Johnson is known to finish off all of J.F.K.'s plans. He also served a second term and created programs like The Great Society during his presidency. -
The Civil Rights Act of 1964
After a long "war" for equallity, the U.S. finally passes the Civil Rights Act in 1964. The legislation outlawed any form of discrimination against, race, gender, age or religion. Although the legislation was passed, it took many years to actually see the results of it. -
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination
Martin Luther King Jr. is probably the most famous civil rights activist known today. His belief in nonviolence and ideology that it takes time for change brought equallity to America. When he was assassinated not only African Americans but everyone around the nation were grieving. -
Apollo 11 Moon landing
The Moon Landing occurred as part of the Space Race Competition with Russia during the cold war. Even though Russia was the first one to send a person to space and orbit the Earth, America sent the first man to the Moon. The Space Shuttle they used was called Apollo 11. -

The Watergate scandal was when John Mitchell and John Dean tried to steal documents from the Democratic National Comitee. Instead of exposing this to the public, the Nixon administration tried to cover it up. The releasing of many documents and tapes lead to the resignation of Nixon as president. -
