Cuban Missile Crisis October 22, 1962.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, leaders of the U.S. and the Soviet Union engaged in a 13 day political and military stand off over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba, just 90 miles from U.S. Disaster was avoided when the US agreed to the leader of the Soviet, Nikita Khrushchev’s offer to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba. -
Operation Desert Storm
Also known as teh Gulf war, befroe this war had started america had just given Iraq some major military aid making Iraq's army the 4th largest in the world. The dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, had sent his military into a major oil exportor. If they went through and won this war Saddam Hussein would be in control of at lest 1/5 of the worlds oil supply.
