National Dance Team Championship
Every year for over 15 years now, the Royalette Dance Team travels to Orlando, Florida to compete in the National Dance Team Championship. This was the first time I got to go with my team and compete in Disney World! -
Robin Williams
Robin Williams was an American Actor who effected the lives of many people, adults and children alike. He starred in classics like "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Good Will Hunting," "Jumanji," "Dead Poets Society," "Flubber," and was even the voice of the genie in "Aladdin." He took his life suddenly in 2014. -
Senate Elections
The 2014 Senate elections in North Carolina resulted in the most Republican Candidates in the history of North Carolina. They had 8 Candidates that year. Thomas Tillis was the Republican nominee and Kay Hagan was the Democratic nominee.

My first major failure
My junior year I applied to be an officer on my dance team which was essentially a captains position. I applied, interviewed and stressed for weeks but I did not get a position. It was my first major failure I had ever faced and it has been a huge motivator in my life to be a leader. -
Chapel Hill Shooting
Three Muslim students were shot and killed at UNC Chapel Hill. The victims were a newlywed couple and the bride's younger sister. It was said to be a terrorist act.

Freddie Gray was a 21 year old black man who was arrested in Baltimore and is said to have been killed due to police brutality.

HB2 Bill Passed
Former Governor McCrory passed the bill that essentially stated transgender people do not have the legal right to use the bathroom of their gender identification but have to use the bathroom of the sex they were born as.

2016 Presidential Election
Obviously, the 2016 Presidential election is still a hot topic as we elected Donald Trump as President of the United states. Trump was elected 45th President with Mike Pence as his Vice President. -

NC Governor Cooper passed a law that repealed the bill about a year after it was passed.

Meeting my other half
In 2017, I met my boyfriend, Andrew Kakaley, and he quickly became the most important person in my life. He is in the Marine Corps and graduates with a masters this summer in Mechanical Engineering. Meeting him has changed my life in the best way possible.
