The 11th Century Japanese classic written by a Heian court lady known as Murasaki Shikibu. The Tale of Genji has 54 chapters and over 1,000 pages of text in its English translation. No one had ever written a novel, let alone a novel with character development and a complex plot. -

The Black Death is the name given to a disease called the bubonic plague which was rampant during the 14 Century. The Black Death was caused by fleas carried by rats that were very common in towns and cities. The fleas bit into their victims literally injecting them with the disease. Death could be very quick for the weaker victims. -
