    The mother is not pregnant during these "first weeks". The Ob-gyn counts pregnancy as 40 weeks from the start of the last menstral cyle. during these weeks thre are no changes to the baby.

    weeks 3-4
    some things that the mother can experience in these weeks of pregnancy are a missed period, and cramping, she may find out she's pregnant by the end of the 4th week or later. Pregnancy test measure HCG hormone levels. During this week conception occurs. The zygote turns into a blastocyst and travels down the fallopian tubes. Rapid cell division begins

    In these weeks the mother may experience a missed period, tender breasts frequent urination, mood swings, morning sickness, constipation, heartburn, gas may occur, and increased heart rate due to increased cardiac volume, and bloating.

    The brain is growing rapidly
    the eyes and ears continue to develop.
    The inner ears start to develop, but the outer ears on the sides of the head will not appear for a couple more weeks. the mother is probably feeling tired. Your breasts might feel sore and enlarged, and you may need to pee more often than usual.

    the baby is growing all body parts are present. baby is 1/1/4 inches long. baby's skeleton is forming, and Arms and legs are longer. Fingers and toes become distinct. the mother may experience heartburn.
  • week 11

    genitals develop head is about half the length of the baby. teeth buds form. baby is 2 inches in length. changes in mom are same as week 10

    Fingernails grow
    Face has more defined profile
    Intestines are in the abdomen About 2 ½ inches in length and weighs about ½ ounce

    Baby’s sex will become apparent
    Baby can swallow and make urine
    Baby is about 3 ½ inches in length and weighs about 1 ½ ounces

    Baby is moving but mom cannot feel it Baby is about 4 ½ inches in length and weighs about 4 ounces changes in mother are the same as week .
  • weeks 18-19

    Baby begins to hear
    Digestive system worksVernix caseosa covers the baby, Changes in the Mother are, Enlarged abdomen may become apparent, Backaches, Stretch marks may appear Heartburn,Swelling in hands and feet,Trouble sleeping
  • weeks 20-21

    Regular sleep and wake patterns, All organs and structures formed,Breathing movements occur but are underdeveloped,Covered in Lanugo,May begin to suck thumb Baby is about 6 1/3 inches in length and weighs about 11 ounces changes in the mother are the same as 18-19

    Has nails, fingerprints, eyebrows, lashes, and possibly some hair,Heartbeat heard with a stethoscope. Lowest limit of viability (survival outside the mother)Baby is about 7 ½ inches in length

    the baby's Brain, lungs, and liver still developing,Brain will double in size between week 35 & 39, Lung development during last few weeks helps with fewer complications after birth, At week 39, baby is considered full term,Weight gain helps with temperature control once born changes in the mother are the same as week 36-37
