First Public School
Also known as The Boston Latin School was established in Boston, Massachusetts. It was made strictly for college preparation and taught Latin and Greek while also focusing on humanities.

Young Ladies Academy
The first ever all girls academy established by Harvard graduate, John Poor in Philadelphia. At the Young Ladies Academy they studied reading, writing, spelling, arithmetic, English grammar, composition, rhetoric, geography, history, and vocal music. This academy was so successful they made other colleges for girls. it is also believed that this education helped win womens' right to vote later in 1920. -
School for the Blind
Also known as, The New England Asylum for the Blind allowed blind and deafblind American people to attend this school to learn reading, writing, and mathematics. One of the most famous people to graduate from this school is Hellen Keller who went there in 1888.

First Co Ed College
Oberlin College was the first coeducational college in the US. three out of the four women that graduated from there in 1841, graduated with A.B. degrees. that made them the first women in the United States to graduate with that degree.

The Great Depression
The stock market began to crash which meant the US economy is failing as well. This decreased teachers salary pay, which caused schools in the poorer ares to shut down.

World War II
This all started after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December. Since that happened, all of the economy's money was going to stuff needed for war. This caused young men and teachers to drop out of school to enlist. All of this caused many schools to shut down for the time being.

ACT
The very first ACT test was taken on November 7, 1959 with over 75,000 students taking it. This same ACT test is still taken to this day now with even more students participating to help them get into colleges.

Columbine Shooting
Two students that went to Columbine High School, went on a shooting spree that killed 15 people and wounded 23. This caused the school to shut down until the fall but the shooting still left many people in shock.

Los Angeles
32,000 teachers that work in the public schools went on strike over class size, pay, and lack of support staff. Although, students were still expected to go to school during their strike. After a sixty day strike, the teachers were allowed to go back to school.

COVID-19
Serious and deadly disease entered the US which caused many schools to shut down. Teachers had to react quickly on how to start teaching kids online. Schools opened again in the Fall of 2020 for most schools, but some are still online. This made everyones lives a lot different. School was either online or in-person while wearing a mask.
