    Beer Wine Revenue Act (First New Deal)
    -This law was the first steps to end Prohibition. This act amended the Volstead Act of 1919 to legalize the sale of wine and beer that contained no more the 3.2 percent alcohol.

    • This was created by the Emergency Conservation Work Act, putting unemployed young men to work in the nation’s forests and parks. The CCC employed about three million men in conservation work such as planting trees, reducing erosion, and fighting fires.

    • This agency oversaw the construction of dams to control flooding, improved navigation, and create cheap electric power in the Tennessee Valley basin.
    • This agency was also important because it generated and sold surplus electricity, created jobs, and conserved water power

    • This was enacted by the U.S. Congress, aimed at decreasing federal control of American Indian affairs and increasing Indian self-government and responsibility.

    • This was a government agency that FDR established in 1934 to combat the housing crisis of the Great Depression.
    • The FHA was designed to regulate mortgages and housing conditions.

    Work Progress Administration (Second New Deal)
    • This agency employed millions of job-seekers to carry out public works projects, including the construction of public buildings and roads. -More than 8.5 million people were employed due to this agency. -This was a relief effort.
  • Wagner Act

    -This was one of the most important pieces of labor legislation in history, it guaranteed workers the right to organize unions and bargain directly with management about wages and other issues.
    -Also it prohibited employers from interfering with union activities.
    -This was a reform effort.

    • This was designed to combat widespread poverty among senior citizens and to aid the disabled. -This government program is still in existence today and provides income to retired wage earners and the disabled who have paid into the program throughout their working lives. -This was a reform effort.

    Soil Conservation and Allotment Act (Second New Deal)
    • This act established the goals of decreasing soil erosion and maintaining the navigability of rivers.
    • The government would pay farmers and in return, they would reduce production to conserve soil and prevent erosion. -This was a relief/recovery effort.
  • United States Housing Act (Second New Deal)

    United States Housing Act (Second New Deal)
    • The USHA lent about $800 million towards the construction of 587 low-rent housing developments, as well as some housing for defense industry workers, creating over 170,000 dwelling units.
    • Roosevelt wanted to provide safe and sanitary living environments​ for families. -This was a relief​/recovery effort.
  • Second Agricultural Adjustment Act (Second New Deal)

    Second Agricultural Adjustment Act (Second New Deal)
    -This act authorized crop loans, crop insurance against natural disasters, and large subsidies to farmers who cut back production.
