  • Albany Plan

    Albany Plan
    Benjamin Franklin created the Albany Plan to gather delegates in Albany, New York. This was so the colonies would unite against the French or the Indians. The delegates approved the plan, but the colonies rejected it. The Crown did not support the plan either, as it was wary of too much cooperation between the colonies.

    This war was Britain, its colonies, and Native American allies against the French, its colonies, and Native American allies. This war was fought on the control of colonial markets and raw materials.

    The French surrendered and Britian was able to most of the market by gaining control of Canada and Florida, all the land east of the Missisippi River.

    This didnt allow colonist to move west and they didn't like because they felt they had the right to. But this was put in order to "solve" tensions with the Natives.

    A group of colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians dumped tea overboard from three ships in Boston Harbor. This was in protest of the Tea Act.
  • Intolerable Acts

     Intolerable Acts
    These were passed because of the Boston Tea Party and placed restrictions on the colonists including stopping town meetings and the closing of Boston Harbor cutting them off from supplies .
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    They joined to boycott Intolerable Acts, from 12 of the 13 colonies met in Philadelphia. They decided to boycott British goods.
  • Lexington and Concord

     Lexington and Concord
    This was the first battle between America and Britain. British troops were sent to Lexington and Concord to seize stores of colonial gunpowder and to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock. The British troops were forced to retreat with the loss of 70 men.

    All 13 colonies were at this meeting in Philadelphia beginning May. George Washington was named head of the Continental Army.
