  • The 15th amendment

    The 15th amendment gave african-amercian men the right to vote. The year before slavery was abolished. Government also created legel remedies for people affected by voting discrimination.
  • Assassination of Franz Ferdinand

    Franz Ferdinand was the Archduke of Ausria-Este and prince of Hungary and Bohemia. This eventually led to World War 1.
  • The completion of the Panama Canal

    The Panama Canal is a ship canal that connects to the Alantic ocean. It is a big part for international maritime trade. It was first owned by three different countries; Colombia, France, and the United States.
  • U.S. entry in to WWI

    The United States was afraid of the world to be controlled by communism. Germany was sinking U.S. merchant ships. Germany sent mexico a zimmerman tellegram and once that telagram was intercepted President Wilson had to delcare war on Germany.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    This was a peace treaty at the end of WWI. This told Germany that they had to give back land they took over. They also had to give the U.S. 442 billion dollars.
  • The 19th amendment

    This amendment gave women the right to vote. It was first introduced in 1878. Then it was approved 41 years later.
  • Hitler invades Poland

    He wanted to regain lost terrortory. This was the begginng of WW2. He wanted to destroy the Nazi ideology.
  • Japan bombs Pearl Harbor

    This occured during the second world war. 2,500 people died during this action. They bombed most of our naval ships except for two
  • Executive order 9066

    This order was signed in WWII by Franklin D. Roosevelt. This gave the secertary of war certain military zones.
  • U.S. drops the first atomic bomb on Japan

    The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. 90,000 to 166,000 people were killed. This act was retaliation from Japan bombing Pearl Harbor.
  • U.S. drops the second atomic bomb in Japan

    The second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. 39,000-80,000 people were killed. 3 days later Japan surrendered.
  • First U.S. military advisors were sent into Vietnam

    Two military advisors, Maj. Dale Buis and Sgt. Chester Ovnand were sent to Vietnam. Soon, the were killed by VIet MInh guerrillas
  • March on Washington

    This was a march for jobs and freedom. There was 250,000 people ad this was the biiggest march in history. This is the time when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his 'I have a dream' sppech.
  • John F. Kennedy assassination

    He was the president at the time. He was shot while in Texas inside a motorcade. He was supposibly killed by Lee Harvey Oswald.
  • First combat troops sent to Vietnam

    3500 marines were sent to defend the American air base in Da Nang. They joined 23,000 military advisors in Vietnam.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. assassinated

    During a speech the day before he died he said,"im probably going to die¨ He was killed on his hotel balcony. He was shot through his cheek.
  • Vietnam War ends

    Richard Nixon pulled soliders out so he could get voted president.58,000 people lost their lifes during this war.
  • U.S. supports Afganistan from invasion of the Soviet Union (U.S.S.R)

    America sold them guns. The united states trained all the soliders.
  • U.N. resolution 678

    Iraq didn't meet a deadline to withdraw from the war. This resolution was adopted 12 votes against 2. Whoever voted 'yes' won incentives.
  • U.N. begins bombing against Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait.

    The United States led a 28-nation force. The U.S. had a treaty with Kuwaits leader. They had a duty to protect Kuwaits border.
  • U.N. declares victory in the Persian GUlf

    There was economic sanctions by the United Nations
