    Christopher Columbus Discovers America

    Christopher Columbus Discovers America
    Christopher Columbus intended to reach India in order to get spices. He instead discovers America during his journey across the Atlantic Ocean on what he called "The New World".
  • Anglo-Powhatan Wars

    A series of battles starting in 1609 in the Colony of Virginia. It was between the English who sailed into the Chesapeake Bay in 1607, and their encounter with a powerful tribe of Native Americans, leading to a battle.
  • Acclamation War

    A war between Portugal and Spain, starting with the Portuguese revolution in 1640 ending with the Treaty of Lisbon in 1668. It was marked by periodic issues between the two nations, in between short episodes of major warfare.
  • The Rise of King Charles II

    Charles II was ruled the king of England in 1660, the first English king in over a decade. He was looking into much more possessions in North American holdings. He soon established colonies in New York and New Jersey (formally belonging to the Dutch.)

    William Penn was one of the quakers who founded the state of Pennsylvania in 1681 during the colonial era. Without his discovery, we wouldn’t have had Philadelphia become the nations capital during the 18th century

    A political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts against the Tea Act of May 10th, 1773. This was an attempt to protest the British Parliament’s increased tax for citizens.
  • American Revolutionary War

    American Revolutionary War
    The war between America & Great Britan, during the outbreak of the American Revolution. America went against the British with the assistance of France/Spain. It was fought amongst many battles in North America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Independence Day

    Independence Day
    A staple in American history in which we grow tired of British ruling, and we declare our own country. Located at the Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia, written by Thomas Jefferson & the rest of the Committee of Five, it was a unanimous decision to declare our independence as a country, officially becoming the United States of America.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexican-American War
    A fight between America & Mexico due to a dispute whether Texas Ended at the Nueces River (in which Mexico claims) or the Rio Grande (under United States claim.) The land being claimed over consists of more than 500,000 square miles of Mexican territory expanding west from the Rio Grande to the Pacific Ocean.

    American Civil War
    The 4-year civil war between the Union (North) and the Confederacy (South) in order to decide if slavery could continue or be abolished. The Union was commanded by Abraham Lincoln/Ulysses S. Grant, meanwhile the Confederates were run by Jefferson Davis/Robert E. Lee.

    The beginning of a global conflict between many nations that lasted over 4 years until November 11th, 1918. At the time this was thought as “The War to end all Wars”. It took place among many countries, but mainly in Europe and the Middle East, also including some parts of Africa. The official start was the war that was between Austria and Hungary declaring war on Serbia.

    The 1920s in American culture was know as the Roaring Twenties, an era where we emphasized our pop culture and western society with the prosperous economic rise we had. It was blossomed by cultural phenomenon such as jazz music, cinema, the flapper clothing style for ladies, as well as many powerful moments.

    The First Film With Sound
    As high as income was for American citizens in the 1920s, there were many options leadings to rise of entertainment. Cinema became a high staple in pop culture, giving us the first film with sound in 1927 with the first “talkie” The Jazz Singer.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression
    The severe economic downfall of U.S economy created by the Wall Street stock market crash of 1929, otherwise known as Black Tuesday. It got increasingly worse as the 1930s went on, with nearly 25% of citizens were unemployed (12.8 million)
  • World War II

    World War II
    The biggest/deadliest war in history, including over 30 countries. It was sparked by the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 and continued for 5 years finally ending on September 2nd, 1945. The death count toles at over 70 million total, between army and citizens.
  • The Cold War

    The beginning of decades long political tension between the Soviet Union and the United States. It involved less military confrontation but rather espionage and surveillance, as well as assassinations with the Soviet Union carrying anti-U.S propaganda showing hate towards capitalism.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    A conflict was caused in Vietnam by their Communist Government against South Vietnam with their support in military by the United Staes. It was made to be intense with the Cold War simultaneously going on between the U.S and the Soviet Union. It lead to the death of over 3 million people (with over 58,000 being Americans.)
  • Martin Luthor King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” Speech

    Martin Luthor King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” Speech
    During the March on Washington, civil rights activist Martin Luthor King Jr. gave an impactful speech titled “I Have A Dream”. In this speech he called for the end of fascism in the United States right by the Lincoln Memorial. This speech was delivered to nearly 250 thousand people and is a staple in the Civil Rights movement
  • Assassination of President John. F Kennedy

    Assassination of President John. F Kennedy
    While visiting Texas citizens, being driven around with his wife Jaqueline, he was assassinated via long distance shooting by former U.S marine Lee Harvey Oswald.
