First Month
The zygote is growing and is around the size of a pin head. The heart also has started to beat and the egg attaches itself to the wall of the uterus. -
First Month
In the first month, the zygote is around the is around the size of a pin head so it is still very small. The hear which is about the size of a poppy seed is starting to beat. The egg adheres to the wall of the uterus. -
Second Month
During the second month the zygote develops to around a quarter inch long. Their limbs and facial features become prominent and so do their veins. By the end of eight weeks the zygote changes to an embryo. -
Third Month
The fetus is now an inch long and all of their organs and muscles have started to develop and perform basic functions. -
Fourth Month
The baby develops thick hairs called lanugo on their skin. Their heartbeat can be heard easily through an ultrasound and this si usually when they start to kick. The baby is around 3 inches long at this stage. -
Fifth Month
The vernix caseosa forms on the baby's skin and at this stage the baby is around 6.5-7 inches. -
Sixth Month
The baby grows to around 8-12 inches and ounces. The more detailed facial features like eyelids and eyebrows become more visible. Their lungs fill with amniotic fluid which helps them start to breathe. The also are able to hear sounds outside of the stomach. -
Seventh Month
The baby is now around 1.5 pounds and 14-16 inches long. They are very developed and grow fingernails on their fingertips. -
Eighth Month
In the eighth month the baby gains around half a pound each week and they begin to pile on more fat. They move their head around to the bottom to prepare for birth. -
Ninth Month
The baby grows to around 6 pounds and 17-18 inches. The baby will most likely move around less and prepare for birth.
