1989 World Series
The game on October 17 was responsible for saving many lives this day as it was the same day as the Loma Prieta earthquake. One of those lives saved was my grandfather's. -
1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake
This earthquake was crazy. My grandfather should have been stuck and killed beneath the Cypress Viaduct. The day that this happened, the 1989 World Series was happening between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's. Because of this, the roads were cleared than usual and my papa left work earlier to miss the traffic. Good thing, because when the earthquake hit, he had just made it off of the cypress. He would have been driving on the bottom layer -
