    Pax romana began in B.C.E. and ended in about 180 C.E. Pax romana means roman peace which was brought about by good emporers and a good empire altogether. It ended with the "last of the five good emporers", when Marcus Aurelius died.

    After the civil war octavian emerged victorious which made him emperor and soon after they gave him the name Augustus Caesar. He restored peace to rome and improved infrastructure like roads, bridges and aqueducts. Also he encouraged trade which improved the economy.

    Before there was an empire there was a republic that turned into the empire. It happened because the romans kept gaining more and more wealth which lead to more power. at the beginning of the empire there was marc antony and octavian which led rome to a triumphet but soon they fought and one became the leader, octavian. this was the end of the republic and the start of an empire.

    Marcus Aurelius was known as the last of the five good emporers. He ruled from 161 C.E. to 180 C.E. As emporer he unified the roman empire economically. Mrcus was not a ruler that would sit back and watch his soldiers fight he would fight with them. all good times come to an end though when he dies in 180 C.E. But before he died he put his son commodus in charge which proved to be the beginning of the end of the roman empire.

    The 50 years of decline began under commodus. There were several problems that led to the fall of rome. Some were, weak corrupt laws,mercenary army, size of empire and serious economical problems.

    constantine 306-337C.E.
    After the civil war which was brought about by diocletian advocating his throne, constantine is the new emperor. He is the one that brought the empire back together after diocletian split it up. In 313 C.E he signed the edict of milan. Constantine moved the capital of rome to byzantium and renamed it constantinople in 330 C.E.

    When constantine dies the empire for the time was emperorless so tribes see that rome is wak and attack.In the 400's the romans could no longer hold off the invaders and in 410 C.E. the visigoths captured and looted rome. In 455 C.E. the vandals left rome powerless and inin 476 C.E. the ostrigoths led the final collapse. After rome fell the eastern part was morphed into the byzantine empire.

    As the western part of the roman empire is attacked the eastern part is totally fine. The eastern part was still strong had a good economy therefore it didnt fall like the western part did. as time went on new emperors came along and one really made a difference, his name was justinian but thats a whole different story.

    Commodus was nothing like his father as emporer. He was all about himself and that caused the decline of the roman empire. Commodus was more interested about entertainment than anything else. He allowed others to help him run the empire and soon he spent all the money rome had. So he decided to kill the rich and take their money. his own sister allied with the other senators to try and kill him. This did not work but eventually he was assasinated, on the 31st of december.

    Diocletian had tried to save rome as he clearly saw it falling. first as emperor he split rome in two so it would be easy to rule. He decided to take the east side to rule as emperor and had maximian rule the west. as emperor he doubled the size of the army and improved the tax structure. this all worked for a while but he gave up power in 305 C.E.
