The game
This years game is vex turning point and in the game there are flags to toggle caps to flip and stack and platforms to park on. Each item is worth a different amount of points the high flags are worth 2 points and low flags worth 1. The caps are worth 1 point on the ground and 2 points when stacked on a high pole. The lower platform is worth 3 points to be parked on and 6 for high park. -
Awards
This past year we won the design award the excellence award the tournament champion and the skills awards we have won state for 2 years in a row and have had the best robot in the state award(excellence award) in the state of North Dakota. -
Windom
It was our first robotics competition of the year and we had a bad strategy and lost out and didn't get any awards. It was a five hour drive but we found out what we had to do differently there were 38 team that competed at it. -
Warren
Our 2nd competition was in Warren MN and there was 36 teams there we made some improvements but didn't have time to do a complete redesign but tried our hardest -
East Grand Forks
We started the day off rough with Derek forgetting the batteries, and Battery chargers but we ended up with the design award and we lost in the championship match -
Bob
Bob the V4 robot made from the older equipment and won State. He is on his 4th and final version. He has a 6 motor drive base 2 motor 4 bar lift 1 motor on the cap flipper a 1 motor intake and a 2 motor shooter for a total of 12 motors. The final version has won 2 tournament champion titles and beside electrical malfunctions it is very reliable. -
Strategy
We decided to opt for more focus on the shooter in the new robot because shooting the flags is worth more than caps. But we also ended up making the cap stacker better at stacking but worse at de-staking. We also made sure that we could get up on the high platform. -
Bobby
He is made from the new equipment and is faster and more powerful than Bob. Bobby has a 4 motor drive, a motor on the intake, one on the arm, 1 on the shooter, and 1 on the part that rotates the shooter. for a total of 8 motors -
TSA
We brought license plates from warren for every one that would forget theirs During the competition Bobby had a hiccup and lost in his first match because the shooter was programmed the wrong way somehow, after that Bobby went undefeated and the only match bob lost was to Bobby. Bobby took 1st in seeding and bob took 3rd. We paired up and won the tournament. -
Worlds
We qualified worlds by winning State. This year at worlds almost 600 teams from countries all around the world come to compete there is 8 different divisions and each team is randomly put into a different division. In each division it starts with pool play were every team is ranked then the top 15 teams choose a team member and compete in the single elimination round. The winner of each division then competes in a Round Robin against the other division champions for the international title.
