Evolution of the Toilet
-
Sir John Harrinton created the first flushing toilet which did not have a water trap.
-
Alexander Cummings improved Sir Johns toilet, adding a water trap which kept clean water in the bowl after flushing.
-
Crapper's workshop came up with a new siphon disign.
-
Crpper's workshop then came up with a pull down lever that was supposed to be more convenient and take up less room.
-
Most toilets are replaced by much improved compact, siphon jet models.
