The first sun clocks are invented.
3500 BC
People now have a need to tell the time from beginning to end of day, so the Egyptians invented the sundial, a clock that creates a shadow, which falls on different markings, indicatng the time. These were the first devices that could tell time to less than half of a day. Cummings, E. (n.d.). Clock a History - Timekeepers. Clock a History - Timekeepers. Water Clocks
1400 BC
Water clocks like this were also used to measure how much time passed. They used the amount of water that passed dripped down as a measure of how much time had passed. HISTORY OF CLOCKS. (n.d.). Pendulum Clocks
Scene Description: In 1583 Galileo made the first pendulum clock. This kept time keeping much more accurate. It used the pendulum, which will go back and forth at the same rate for almost infinitely. Alarm Clocks
In 1876 Seth Thomas developed the first wind-up alarm clock. He used gears and springs to set off the bel at the top. This clock remained a staple of the clock until the battery powered clock was created. APA Citation:Cummings, E. (n.d.). Clock a History - Timekeepers. Clock a History - Timekeepers. Battery Powered Clocks
In 1904 the first clock that ran on a type of modern battery was created. It gave direct impulses to the pendulum to keep time. These were more accurate than the older pendulum clocks.APA Citation:HISTORY OF CLOCKS. (n.d.). HISTORY OF CLOCKS. Atomic Clocks
Scene Description:These clocks use atomic resonance to keep perfect time. They use the microwave signals that electrons in atoms send out to send the impulses to the pendulum.
