  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    The industrial revolution was sparked by the invention of the steam engine. Overall, this event changed American society because of the migration from farm land to cities. Farmers quit farming and moved to the city because of the oppurtunity for a new job. Most families did this which caused the employment rate to go up as well as transportation and real estate.

    Civil War
    The Civil War changed American society because it gave African Americans the move from being considered peropetrty to people whick led to the Civil Rights Movement.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    The 19th Amendment allowed women to have the right to vote. This made women more confident. They were influenced by this Amendment and wore shorter dresses and bobbed their hair. At this time, they began to take advantage of their new freedoms.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression
    The Great Depression changed society because no one had money. No one had money and the economy was terrible. Men couldn't even afford to support their families. No one knew what to do to survive without necessities. World War II ended the depression because of the job oppurtunity to make the artillery.
  • Holocaust

    Holocaust
    The Holocaust changed society because of the attempt of extermination of the Jewish. It made people realize that a genocide like this should've never happened. That no one should've let it go on. After this event, the Jews went to Isreal. This even has an effect because the Palestinians and Israeli have issues.

    World War II took America out of the depression. Women also bacame more independent because they were on their own as their husband's were at war. Food was also rationed. Families grew victory gardens which was an attempt to stop any food shortages.

    Many were affected by the attack on Pearl Harbor. The men went away to fight, and the women had to work in factories because no men were able to.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    This event follows the Civil War. The Civil Rights movement changed the attitudes of American citizens. It was the point in time where most realzied that everyone; no matter what race; should have equal rights. Later; water fountains, bathrooms, busses, and restaurants were no longer segregated.

    President Kennedy was an incredibly popular figure, which caused many to be upset and heartbroken. He is remembered because of his scandals and how young he was. He was like a celebrity. So much was expected from him and everyone thought his policies were going to be the best for America.
  • 9/11

    9/11
    9/11 had a huge impact on society. It caused the United States to be involved in the war in Afganistan and Iraq. Also, the security has been changed drastically; especially in airports.
