Everything began when David Theune read a concerning journal entry form one of his students detailing their experiences with bullying. -
Book club
After reading "Sticks and Stones" by Emily Bazelon and being moved by it, Theune started a community-wide book club to explore it further and talk about the impacts of bullying. -
Published book
Members of the book club decided to do more to combat bullying and started collecting stories from those around the community. They complied everyone's experiences into one book titled "Elevate Empathy: The Power of Kindness" and published it. -
Podcast created
After helping to publish a book, Theune wanted to do even more. He decided to start a podcast to share student stories and experiences. He titled it the "Share Chair Podcast".
