1873 The Society to Encourage Studies at Home
This was a collective organization, the first formal correspondence school in the United States. The organization was founded by Ana Eliot Tickner in Boston Massachusetts(Ferrer,2019). -
1922- Pennsylvania State University
Pennsylvania State offered the first college or university broadcast course over the radio(Peterson,2017). -
1926-The National Home Study Council
The National Home Study Council Forms. The organization later changes their name to Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) in 2015(Peterson,2017). -
1958-Bell Laboratories
Bell Laboratories invents the modem, which converts digital signals to the analog signal, this allowed wired communication between two or more computers(Ferrer,2019). -
1960- University of Illinois
The University of Illinois created the Intranet systems which allowed students to access course materials and recorded lectures(Ferrer,2019). -
