  • 1910-1919 The American Association of Labor Legislation (AALL)

    The AALL was an organization that vouched for leaves and funeral cost given to employees (Study.com).
  • 1920-1929

    Blue Cross Blue Shield was created after WWI (Study.com)
  • 1935 Social Security Act (SSA)

    Healthcare geared for seniors to assist with costs (Study.com).
  • 1940 Employee Sponsored Healthcare

    Businesses needed more workers but couldn't afford more pay (Study.com)
  • 1960 Proposal of SSA Extension

    This extension later lead to Medicare and Medicaid. Healthcare we still use today (Study.com).
  • 1986 COBRA

    Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act was created for employees who were no longer working. Healthcare was still provided (cuny.edu).
  • 1990-1994 Healthcare Security Act

    Clinton mandated there be competition within insurance
  • 2006 Massachusetts healthcare reform

    Companies with more than 11 employees must provide insurance (Modernhealthcare.com).
  • 2010 Healthcare Reform Act

    Everyone must have health insurance starting in 2014.
