The Calculator Is Made
The Calculator is created in 1939 by George Stiblitz. This event was a huge stepping stone for computers to be created because computers were originally only meant for calculations. This allowed them to think of making a calculator that could do calculations quicker and harder calculations. -
ENIAC The First Electrical Computer
The ENIAC was the first electronic computer ever built and was built by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert. This was a major evolution in computers because it was over 1000 times faster than any previous computer ever built. This computer used panel-to-panel wiring and switches for programming. The Eniac also weighed 30 tons, occupied over 1000 square feet, and used about 18000 vacuum tubes. This computer was only meant for calculations. -
The First Keyboard
The First Keyboard was created in 1947. This Keyboard was used instead of punch cards on a computer. This was a major event because it allowed information to be traveled to the computer quicker and more efficiently. -
The First Integrated Circuit
The Integrated Circuit was a major event in computer evolution because it made computers much smaller and a lot more efficient and faster and was made in 1958. The creator of the Integrated Circuit Board is Jack Kilby. One way it allowed to make computers much smaller is that it made them no longer rely on vacuum tubes which took up a lot of space. -
Switchmode Power Supply
The first one that was made was made and used by IBM in 1958. This used vacuum tube technology at first and has changed since then. It was a significant event in computer evolution because it gave them way more designs for computers. This type of power supply was also much more efficient than the old ones. -
The Bug
Doug Engelbart created the first mouse which used to be called the bug in 1963. The mouse was a major step in the evolution of a computer because it allowed you to move through text quicker and get through files quicker making it a huge evolutions step for computers. -
The First Microprocessor
The Microprocessor made Computers even smaller. The Microprocessor was mainly made by Marcian Hoff and it was invented in 1971. The Microprocessor also made a computer much smaller and faster like the integrated circuit. That it had to rely on the integrated circuit but made its own memory making things much smaller. -
Pong
This is the first commercially successful video game ever made. This came with the first console which was named the Magnavox Odyssey. This was a huge step in computer evolution because it was able to show many people you can do more with devices and you can add more stuff to computers. That it could be used for entertainment not just work. -
First Portable Computer
The first portable computer was made by Altair in 1945. This was a huge step in computers because it allowed one to be portable. That you no longer would have to leave behind your big bulky computer but you would be able to take your computer with you anywhere. -
First Apple Computer
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak co-found Apple Computer in 1976. It was called the Apple 1. This was a significant event in evolution because it was the first computer with a single-circuit board and ROM (Read Only Memory). -
Liquid Cooling
This was a significant event because it allowed people to cool their pcs down another way that was more efficient. This way started to be used around 1996. This way costs more but at the time it is more efficient at keeping your computer cool. -
Geforce 256
This very first GPU/Graphics Card was made in 1999. This was called the Geforce 256 and was launched by Nvidia. This was a huge event in computer evolution because it allowed computers to have a lot better performance. It caused the performance to be better by making the fps a lot better and making it have better graphics making it run smoother. This part is now one of the most important parts of a pc.
