IPad Released
In 2010, the first iPad was released which made learning more accessible from a distance, and made learning apps and games accessible in yet another form. This tool was also introduced to classrooms in the same year. The iPad would continue to evolve over the years to the product that we know and use today.

Canvas Invented
In 2011, the app Canvas was invented which allows for easy access to school documents, recordings, etc. This app had a profound impact on education as many colleges and universities still use this app today.

Chromebooks Invented
In 2011, the Chromebook was invented which served a similar purpose as the iPad. Chromebooks would not start being used in classrooms until 2012, but they are still widely used today with almost every student in K-12 schools being issued a district owned Chromebook.

Google Drive
In 2012, Google Drive was created and began to be used in schools due to the ease and convenience of having documents in one place, and this technology is still widely used in schools today.

Google Classroom Invented
In 2014, the Google Classroom app was invented. This app easily connected a student's or teacher's Google Drive to their classroom. This made submitting assignments and other aspects of education much easier. This would end up being even more of an asset a few years down the line.

Flipped Classroom
In 2015, we began to see the rise of a flipped classroom, or the learning of materials outside of class and reviewing and taking assessments inside of class. This was made possible by all of the technology that came the years prior like Google Docs, iPads, Khan Academy and other learning platforms. This set-up would only expand as the years go on.

National Education Technology Plan Updated Again
In 2017, the National Education Technology Plan was updated yet again. This revision mainly called for equity of technology between schools, and active use of technology in the school. Essentially, equal access to technology for all, so that schools could begin to implement more technology.

Khan Academy Kids
In 2018, a new addition came to the Khan Academy website with Khan Academy Kids. This made learning for kids 2-8 years old more accessible as they offered age appropriate learning materials for kids who may not even be in daycare yet.

Virtual Learning
In 2020, the world shut down due to COVID-19, which caused schools around the world to transition to virtual learning. Thanks to the apps created in prior years like Google Drive and Zoom, that was able to occur pretty smoothly. This method of learning virtually continues in many places today for convenience and safety.
