Woodstock
During the summer of 1969, some organizers leased a large heap of land in New York, which would be the plantation for the largest festival (probably) in rock history. Artists suchs as Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane headlined a huge crowd of over 50,000. Woodstock took place in a time where drug use was heavy so a lot of the crowd was mellow and overall, content with life. Photo Credit: woodstock.com -
British Invasion: Heavy Metal
The 80's were filled with a lot of classics, but no one expected a new wave of music, known as the British Invasion. Bands such as "Iron Maiden", "Judas Priest" and "Saxon" began introducing a new genre of Heavy Metal and instantly took off. People would listen to their music, bang their heads and throw a lot of wild parties. Photo Credit: LoudWire -
Glam Metal vs Thrash Metal: 80's Throwdown
As new genres were taking over the scene, there has never been a bigger battle in the West Coast then Glam vs Thrash. You had the one side dress up with makeup to attract the girls and the other side who just wanted the power. Things didn't fare well for acts such as Metallica (One of the Big Four Thrash Bands) as they were not welcomed around California, where sex and drugs dominated. Glam acts featured the likes of Poison, Quiet Riot, GNR etc. Photo Credit: hotelcongress.com -

The Mid 2000's Metal: Mayhem
Mayhem Festival debuted in 2008, a new big summer tour in the U.S. that would shake the way people would go to concerts and well...the title says it all. Bands such as Slipknot, Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, and Slayer caused a ton of destruction with their aggressive music and lyrics...and people would LOVE IT. Hardcore metal fans created some of the most insane mosh pits and just destroyed venues. I suppose that's one way to deal with your problems. Photo Credit: Rockstar Mayhem Festival -
Current Pop Punk: 2010-Now
From 2010 until now, a lot of the Punk began to influence up and coming bands, inspiring the sub-genre "Pop-Punk". This was a lot less aggressive and songs began to talk more about personal issues i.e. significant others, school, depression. Bands such as "The Wonder Years", "Real Friends" and "The Story so Far" were the pioneers in this category. Photo Credit: AlternatIve Press -
The Country Era: Current
More than ever, Country music is expanding throughout the United States. Popular artists such as Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, and Lady Antebellum are killing shows with their massive following in stadiums now, as compared to just pavillions. Because of this, increased security is necessary to reduce the amount of drinking and intoxication/violence. Photo Credit: billboard.com
