Proclamation of 1763
The praclamation of 1763 was issued by the British after winning the French/Indian War. The proclamation kept American colonists from setteling the newly gained lands west of the Appalachian mountians. Many colonists had already perchased land in this area and were unhappy and resentful of the British for this Proclamation. -
Sugar Act
British began lowered taxes on sugar however they began to actually enfore them strictly. Along with sugar goods like pimiento, coffee, exports on iron and lumber as well as molasses. These taxes and regulations declined the colonies economy and hurt many buisnesses. -
Committees of Correspondence
Shadow governments created by patriot leaders to organize revolutionary actions and turn people against the British. -
The Quartering Act of 1765
A series of acts issued by the Bristish that requiered American colonists to provide British soldiers with food and shelter. This made the colonists unhappy with the British beacuase these won't American soldiers and many times these soldiers were extreamly rude and did not treat the colonists with respect. -
Sons and Daughters of Liberty
Groups of men and women in the colonies that took mesures into their own hands to resist the British and recruit more patriots. -
The Declaratory Act
Replealed the Stamp Act of 1765 after boyvotts began hurting the British econnomy. -
Boston Non-Importation Agreement
Signed by group of merchants in opposition to taxes set the British. They boycotted these gooded until the taxes were removed. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists dressed as native americans dump 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was a protest againt the tax on tea and hurt British cpmpanies greatly, especially the British East India company. -
Intolerable Acts
This series of acts were Britian's responce to the Boston Tea Party. They sent huge amounts of troops and supplies in order to subjugate Massachusettes.
