  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression
    The Great Depression was an example of decline during this time because many people lost their jobs due to the stock markets crashing. When the stock markets crashed, everyone lost their jobs which made everyone very desperate for jobs, homes, food and basic living needs. Men were forced to leave their families to go find jobs and it was an overall depressing time for everyone.
  • The Dust Bowl

    The Dust Bowl was a time of decline because many farmers had to leave their farms to go find food, a job, and a place to live. It all started when a huge drought came in. During this drought, a huge dust storm came across all of the farm land and ruined all of the farmers top soil so they couldn't grow food which forced them to leave their farms.

    The Holocaust was an example of decline during this time because millions of people died. When this was happening, the Germans decided they hated Jews so they tricked them all into thinking they were bring put into camps to earn money, but in reality they were just going there to get murdered.
  • On-to-Ottowa Trek and Regina Riot

    On-to-Ottowa Trek and Regina Riot
    The On to Ottowa Trek was a time of decline because many people died and because it caused a feud between the government and lots of men. It all started when the men who were in relief camps got fed up with the living conditions so they all hopped on a train to make their way to Ottowa to meet more men and it caused a riot in Regina. The government and police came out with wooden bats to stop the men from going to Ottowa and protesting.
  • The Battle of Hong Kong

    The Battle of Hong Kong
    The battle of Hong Kong was a time of decline because many people died. In November 1941, Britain sent the royal rifles of Canada and the Winnipeg Grenadiers, along with British and Indian troops, to help defend the country of Hong Kong, a British colony, because they were getting attacked by japan. By December 25, all troops were forced to surrender.
  • The Dieppe Raid

    The Dieppe Raid
    The Dieppe raid was a time of decline because many people died and it caused a feud between people. 5000 Canadian troops attacked the Germans at Dieppe, on the French coast. There is still much debate about this attack because some argue that the lessons learned helped saved lives later in the war but others argue that iy was a poorly planned attack that caused a great loss of life and had very little benefits because over 900 Canadians were killed and 1946 were taken, prisoner
  • Juno beach (D-day)

    Juno beach (D-day)
    D-day was a time of decline because it was a battle between two countries and many people died. Separated, outnumbered, and only lightly armed, allied paratroopers including 450 Canadians, captured a german headquarters, destroyed a key bridge, and seized an important crossroads. while this was happening, the royal Canadian airforce were bombing key enemy targets in the invasion area. RCAF Lancaster bombers were also dropping thousands of tons of explosives on German coastal defences.
  • Freeing the Netherlands

    Freeing the Netherlands
    This was a time of progress because they freed Belgium and the Netherlands from the dreaded Nazis. The Netherlands still appreciate Canadians today and became an Allie together.
