Indian Independence
The Indian Independence Act was signed and seperated the Muslim majority areas from India. Violence then occurred when people found themselves on the wrong side of the frontiers. -
Creation of Israel
The Jewish state in Palestine would was declared Israel on May 14, 1948, the first jewish State in 2,000 years. Fighting between the Arabs and Israeli immediately began. -
Berlin Airlift
The Russians wanted no one else to claim Berlin, tried to isolate themselves by closing all transportation ways between western-occupied Germany to western-occupied Berlin. This resultes in the US and its allies flying cargo into West Berlin -
Formation of NATO
The United States and 11 different nations were fearful of communist expansion so then formed NATO. Eastern Europe then formed the Warsaw Pact to rival the formation of NATO. -
Launch of Sputnik
The Sputnik, was the world's first artificial satellite created by the Soviet Union, transmitted radio signals back to Earth. The Soviet Union's success then started the "Space Race" against the United States. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion

This was a six-day war fought between June 5th and 10th while Israelis defended the war and the Arabs saw it as an attack.Four of the strongest Arab nations were defeated by only one nation. -
AssAssination of Egyptian President Sadat
President Sadat was watching a display from the Egyptian Air Force and then two grenades exploded. President Sadat's bodyguards were able to kill 2 of the attackers. President Regan mourned for the President saying that America lost a great friend while people in Libya celebrated. -
Tiananmen Square Protest
More than a million students gathered in the Chinese Tiananmen Square to protest. Students want to meet with China's premier and then things escalade into a hunger strike and then bloodshed and then tanks coimng to clear out the citizens.
