    This war was also referred to as the War of 1870. This war was a conflict between the Second French Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia. This war was the outbreak of tension between these two. The German were also involved and through the leadership of Prussia they had a fast and overwhelming victory.

    Wilhelm the SecondWilhelm the Second was the last emperor of Germany and King of Prussia. He ruled from June 15, 1888 to November 9, 1918. He led Germany on a bellicose “New Course” that showed his support for Austria-Hungary in the crisis of July 1914. This crisis led to World War 1. Oftentimes he would make tactless pronouncements on sensitive topics and he wouldn’t talk to the ministers first.

    Queen Victoria died in 1901. She was eighty-one years old and she had been the queen for almost sixty-four years. She died at her estate, Osborne House. When she died, she was surrounded by her family, children and grandchildren. Her son, King Edward the 7th, became the king once she passed away. Also there was her grandson, Kaiser Wilhelm the 2 who led the Germans against Britain in World War 1.

    [The Entente Cordiale,](http://http://www.firstworldwar.com/source/ententecordiale1904.htm)8 Apr 1904-On April 4, 1904, France and the Britain signed a series of agreements that formed an Entente Cordiale, a "Cordiale understanding," between the two countries. Basically, each country promised not to obstruct each other in their colonial interests abroad. For example, the French promised not to obstruct British activity in Egypt while Britain agreed to allow France the right to "provide assistance and preserve order" in Morocco.

    Anglo-French Naval AgreementThe Anglo French Naval Agreement put the Royal Navy in charge of France’s northern coast defense. This agreement promised that Britain’s French coastlines would be protected from the Germans. In return, the French agreed that they would protect the Suez Canal. Britain and France concluded this military agreement in 1912.

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary assassinated,28 June 1914-Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie are shot to death by a Bosnian Serb nationalist during an official visit to the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo. The killings sparked a chain of events that led to the outbreak of WWI by early August. On June 28, 1919, five years to the day after Franz Ferdinand's death, Germany and the Allied Powers signed the Treaty of Versailles, officially marking the end of World War I.

    Serbia, allies with Russia responded with the backing of their ally responded, poking at only a few of the terms but giving into most of the demands. Meanwhile Austria went to their ally Germany to be sure that they would have their backing if Russia was dragged in. Germany gave Austria the backing and encouraged the war hungry attitude.
