  • The Decembrist Revolt

    The revolt was a small group of nobles and army tried to overthrow the czar's government.
    The consequenses of doing this was thqe czar banned books, imposed a strict sensorship, Targeted schools and universities as centers with unrest. Also he had his secret police spie on the people and more than 150,000 people were executed.

    czar Alexander II freed the serfs. the serfs gained political rights and they got to keep tools and their homes.
  • Russian and Japanese War

    Japan forced rusia to stop their expansion policy. Russia forced Japan to give up a port. So in this war Japan lost thier port but Russia gained a huge and well needed port.
  • The Revolution of 1905

    Bloody Sunday started the Revolution of 1905. Nicholas II created the October Manifesto to satisfy the Russian people. This gave the people liberties, rights, and now they had a voice in Russia because of the Duma.

    In this revolution the Tsar was removed and a government was created. In the Gregorian calendar it was stated as March but in The United States calendar this event occured in February.

    Nicholas the II gave up th throne.
    the consequenses for that would be that he lost all of his power and the people had to get a new ruler which they hoped would be a better than Nicholas.
  • The Great Northern War

    by 1700 Russia felt prepaired and attacked Sweeden. so Russia could conquer the Baltic Coast. The treaty of Nystad brought the war to an end in 1721. With this new conquered land Peter made a new capitol and named it St.Petersburg.
