Decembrist Revolt
Russian army officers led about 3,000 soldiers in a protest against Nicholas I's assumption. Because these events occurred in December, the rebels were called the Decembrists This uprising, which was held back by Nicholas I, took place in the Senate Square in Saint Petersburg. -
Czar Alexander II Emancipates Serfs
The Emancipation Reform of 1861 in Russia was the first and most important of liberal reforms effected during the reign of Alexander II of Russia. The reform was about the liquidation of serf dependence previously suffered by peasants of the Russian Empire. In some of its parts, the serfdom was abolished earlier. -
Assassination of Alex II
Czar Alex the II and his entire family were taken in luxury to Siberia. There were taken to a room where they thought a family picture was going to be taken when a bunch of soldiers came in and shot and killed all of them. They were going to try to "erase history" so they buried his entire family in the woods and never spoke of it again. Many of the people that were involved with the killings were shot so that they wouldn't talk about it to anyone; they just wanted everyone to forget. -

The Russo-Japanese War was "the first great war of the 20th century."It grew out of rival imperial ambitions of the Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan over Manchuria and Korea. -
Revolution of 1905
The Revolution of 1905 was a wave of mass political and social unrest that spread throuh the Russian Empire. Some of it was directed against the government, while some was undirected. It included worker strikes, peasant unrest, and military mutinies. It led to the establishment of limited constitutional monarchy, the State Duma of the Russian Empire, the multi-party system, and the Russian Constitution of 1906. -
Bloody Sunday
Bloody Sunday was in St Petersburg, Russia, where unarmed demonstrators marching to present a petition to Czar Nicholas II were fired upon by soldiers of the Imperial Guard when approaching the city center from several gathering points. The shooting did not occur in the Palace Square. -
