    Hindenburg appoints Hitler Chancellor of Germany
    Adolf Hitler is named the Chancellor of Germany. Under Hitler, Germany soon would start World War II with the invasion of Poland and would start rounding up Jews for what we now know as the Holocaust.

    FDR is the 32 elected president into U.S. office. His famous line is "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

    Dachau, the first concentration camp, is established in Germany
    Although not the most famous, it was the innitial concentration camp, established to hold political prisoners of the Third Reich, only a minority of whom were Jews, Dachau expanded to hold a diverse population of people targeted by the Nazis. It became a model concentration camp.

    Hitler's powerful speaking skills attracted a wide following of Germans desperate for change. With this newfound power he promised better life and a new and better Germany. Hindenburg was reduced to a figurehead.

    The Leauge of Nations ended the First World War. It was the first international organisation whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Germany withdrawing from such an elite organization basically means they are willing to fight and have removed the peace that had been established between them.

    Jews felt the effects of decrees and regulations that restricted all aspects of their public and private lives, including education. Many of those laws were national ones that had been issued by the German administration and affected all Jews.
  • First Nuremberg Laws Passed

    First Nuremberg Laws Passed
    Nuremburg Laws revoked citizenship from Jews and prohibiting them from marrying non-Jews. They were introduced at the annual Nuremberg Rally of the Nazi Party. People were classified as Jews if they had three or four Jewish grandparents. A person with one or two Jewish grandparents was "mixed blood" The Nuremberg Laws made it easier to esacpe being considered a Jew since there were so many different qualifications.

    Hitler's hosting of these Opympic Games served well for camoflauging his anti-semetic views and goals. He expected that the Games would bedazzle many foreign spectators and journalists with an image of a peaceful, tolerant Germany, rather than someone to fear stealing all of your territory.

    The Second Sino-Japanese War was when China fought Japan with some economic help from Germany, the Soviet Union, and the United States. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the war became a leading cause to WWII.

    This is when they missed the first wave of Nazi's decitizenization. Romanian's now became aware of the orgional struggles Jews were facing. They reached struggles one faced to become worth nothing. This was also a part of the Nuremburg Laws.

    Austria was annexed into the German Third Reich.There had been several years of pressure by supporters in both Austria and Germany for the "Heim ins Reich" movement. Under considerable pressure from both Austrian and German Nazis, Austria's Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg tried to hold a reffordum on the vote.

    The Night of the Broken Glass. Nazis violently attack Jews and destroy Jewish property. Jews are killed and others are beaten. Local business' and stores were vandilized and destroyed. All non Jews were encouraged to buy from ONLY non Jew family stores.
  • Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact

    This was announced in Moscow and made sure the two countries would have peace. By signing this pact, Germany had protected itself from having to fight a two-front war in the soon-to-begin World War II. The Soviet Union was awarded land. The pact was broken when Nazi Germany attacked the Soviets.
  • Germany invades Poland from the west

    One of Adolf Hitler's first major foreign policy initiatives after coming to power was to sign a nonaggression pact with Poland. This move was not popular with many Germans who supported Hitler. Hitler sought the nonaggression pact in order to neutralize the possibility of a French-Polish military alliance against Germany before Germany had a chance to get ready for them.
