Events Leading to the revolution

  • Seven Year War

    Seven Year War
    A war that won the British a lot of land past the Mississippi but put Britain in major dept. The colonists help won the war also so they thought they won the land they were fighting for.
    On another note, Parliment had a great idea to charge the Colonies for "defending them" ; lets see how that turns out.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    Proclomation of 1763
    It was a law from Britain that forced the colonist to not pass the Appachian Mountains. The law was passed because King George wanted to be on good terms with the Indians. However, it angered some colonists because they felt their riights we being taken away.
  • Merchant Boycotts

    Merchant Boycotts
    Merchants in Boston Harbor begin to stop purchasing luxurey goods from Britain, it spreads to other colonies somehow.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Act passed by the Parliment, makes the colonists buy a stamp from Britain on all paper items. Starts making colonists rethink.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Grants troops the right to housing from any home in the Colonies.
    Makes more than enough colonists to hate the king.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Place taxes on many common items that colonists use. Also suprising makes smuggling a much more common thing.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A squad of redcoats came to help a sentry who was being heckled by a mad mob of semi-violent civilians. One redcoat finally had enough and shot. The rest though that they had permit to shoot. Several civilians were injured.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Another act Parliment passed. Though this one made it so that only the East India Company sell tea to them and most of the previous acts were repealed. Parliement also sold the tea for extra cheap and the tax was very low. Of course you think this would make the colonists happy but by now they only cared about the princible and it drove their friends and neighbors who sold tea went out of business.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Three tea ships were due to dock in a major harbor to sell their tea. However, the tea ships were sent back in New York and Philidelphia. Its next stop was Boston, where the gov. didnt give it permission to leave the harbor. That night a group of poeple, assume the Sons of Liberty, went on the tea ships and dumped about a millio dollars worth ot tea into the water.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Lasted to about June,because of the Boston Tea Party, Parliemnt punished the colonies by closing down Boston Harbor. Closes Massuchusett's government and disallow any further government meetings and gatherings.
  • March to Lexington

    March to Lexington
    While the redcoats march to Lexington to seize a secret armory, a group of midnight riders goes to warn militias. "The shot heard around the world" was heard and the wars goes boom.
