  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Issued by King George III, stating that no colonist can settle to the west of the Appalachian Mountains. It was like a buffer zone or an imaginary wall for the colonist and natives, but because of that the colonist grew angry and still pushed their ways into the western part of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act was put down and signed in hope for colonist to stop smuggling goods, with that they also half the taxes for any foreign made products. Even though the act was put down and signed, the colonist continued to smuggle goods into their town/city.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act was made so that all colonist have to purchase a special stamped paper for every paper they buy/get.
    (EX: legal document, newspaper, license, and etc.)
    Also added a stamp duty to playing cards and dices.
    Leading to the founding of the Son of Liberty, by Samuel Adams. The Son's of Liberty usually harass the custom workers, the agents, and at some point royal governors. Along with that, the nine colonies met in New York City.

    Repealing of Stamp Act
    Parliament repealed the Stamp Act, but also at that time, to showed the people their powers/control, the Parliament also issued another act called 'Declaratory Act."
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    A big compilation of acts passed by the British government to tax the colonist. Which leads them to smuggling and protesting.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British soldiers attacking defenseless citizens, leaving five dead. After that Samuel Adams and other agitators names it the Boston Massacre. Leading from that event, it made the colonist hate and despise the British Government even more.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Parliament passes another act, not trying to do anything but help struggling English Tea Companies. Leading to angry colonist dressing up as Indians and dumping in 18,00 pounds of tea (from the East India Company) into the water of the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    This acts close down the Boston Harbor and it also made General Thomas Gage was assigned as governor of Massachusetts. For which he put the whole city of Boston under martial law, also known as rule made by the military forces. Along with another act called: Quartering Act.
    Leading to the first meeting of the First Continental Congress. 56 delegates met in September, in Philadelphia. Plus gained more supporters for protest and courage to fight back.

    Quartering Act
    This act lets the British government place soldiers into private homes, because of that the colonist wanted freedom as soon as possible and worked hard.
  • Thomas Paine Common Sense

    Thomas Paine Common Sense
    He wrote grievances against the king and how the colonies really need their independent from Great Britain and from that the colonist felt the need to fight for what they need: Independence.
