    Brown vs. The Board of Education
    In 1954 the U.S supreme court decided to out rule "separate but equal" schools which was allowing segregation in schools, it was a violation of the 14th amendment. This new ruling allowed blacks and whites to come together in schools and receive a better education.
  • The National Defense Education Act (NDEA)

    The National Defense Education Act (NDEA)
    The NDEA was a law passed on September 2nd, 1958, after the soviet acceleration launched the satellite Sputnik. By doing this the house passed the bill providing funding to the education systems in the United States.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    Elementary and Secondary Education Act
    In 1965, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act allowed federal funding to schools. This bill allows for low-income families to be able to get the funding they need for their children's school related expenses. This helps set guidelines that the students should meet educationally.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)
    The EAHCA amendment was passed to allow for schools to be able to meet the needs of the handicap children to allow for them to have a better education. The schools will receive a certain amount of funding to make sure that this happens.
  • No Child Left Behind

    No Child Left Behind
    On January 8th, 2002, George W. Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act. This act requires schools K-12 to test students in both reading and math to make sure they are all meeting the standards for their grade. By doing this the states were also making sure that their teachers were highly qualified to teach, results from those tests showed how the students were doing. Those that did not meet standards were allowed to transfer to a better performing school.
