Nationalism
Americans had a great sense of Nationalism and Pride in their country. They just got rid of British rule and felt strong. Pride most likely fuled the War Hawks thoughts of war. If Americans are overcome with a great amount of nationality, then they would fuel themselves to become capable of war. -

Impressment of Ameican Soldiers
Impressmente is the process capturing American sailors and forcing them into the British Navy. The British captured more than 4500 American soldiers from US ships inbetween 1803-1810. Obviously, this caused anger towards Americans. -
1804 treaty between Quashquame and William Henry Harrison.
The treaty between Quashquame and William Henry Harrisonseded Suak Indian territory in Louisianna and Missouri to the US. They felt like the treaty was unjust, saying that Quashquame was no authorized to sign away land and did not know what he was signing. The establishment of Fort Madison of 1808 on the Mississippi made the Indians even more angry. They sided with British before the war, therefore; giving the US a new enemy. -
British Seize Ships
The British Court punished American merchant ship "Essex" for violating British's maritime policies. The ship was carried goods from the French, Britain's enemy. The law previously allowed American ships to prsper as neutral carriers became reoked. American ships are no longer allowed to neutralize these cargos by making a stop at a American port. Dozens of ships will be serized in weeks. -
Blockade
Napoleon, French leader, begin refusing to allow British goods to come into Europe during the war between France and Britain. As a result, the British set up a blockade towards Europe, preventing ships from entering or leaving it's ports. -
British Orders of Council
The Orders of Council were a series of laws amde by Britain in the course of the wars with France which instituted the policy of commercial warfare. The British tried to delay American trade with France; the US contested these restrictions as legal under international law. -
Chesapeake Incident
The British wanted to check American ships for British desenters. When the US captain of the Chesapeake refused, the british opened fire. They killed 3 Americans and wounded 18 others. -
Emargo Act of 1807
An emabargo is a ban on exporting products to all countries. American created an embargo which would hurt Britain and other European nations. Jefferson hoped to stop the threat to American ships. However, the embargo failed, hurt American business who were supplied by trade. Eventually, the Act was removed in 1809. -
War Hawks
War Hawks were Southern and Western congressmen whom were in favor of war. They were angered with Native Americans who were occupying their territory. The men put political pressure on Americans and made them feel like they had to go to war. -
British Supply Naties with Guns
Americans would not trade guns with Native Americans with the fear that they might attack and win against them. They wanted to keep the advantage. The Native Americans strongly disliked Americans for taking their land and were preparing to fight. The British went behind Americas back and gave Native Americans guns. When Americans found out, the two nations were driven closer to war.
