Wix
During the project, I used the website Wix to create my blog. At first, it took me quite a bit of time to set up the blog and learn the different tools as it was a website that I had never previously used. However, by the end of the project, my skills had really progressed, I was familiar with the tools and was able to navigate the site with ease. The only aspect of the blog that I really struggled with and would need to improve if I was to do the project again was making it look professional. -
Survey Monkey
Another technology that I used during the project was the website Survey Monkey to create the questionnaire. This is a site that I had used previously so I was already familiar with how it worked and had no trouble devising the questionnaire and analysing the results. I think I used the site and its tools effectively so there was no real area that I would need to improve -
Rajar
When carrying out my industry research, I used the website Rajar to find statistical information about my competitors. This was a site that I had never previously used so I was learning as I went along but found it easy to navigate and find the information. Once again, I think that I used the site effectively to extract the information I needed so there was no real area that I would need to improve. -
Online Logo Maker
Another technology that I used was the website Online Logo Maker to create the branding for my radio station. Again, this was a site that I had never previously used, but having found it quite easy, this would be a site that I would definitely use again if I was to repeat the project. The only part of the process that I really struggled with was the actual design and layout. Trying a number of different designs and layouts would possibly be the only area I would need to improve. -
Microphones
During the recording of my news bulletin, I used industry standard microphones. I used the recording studio at my college to record my news bulletin as the pop filters on the microphones and soundproofing on the walls of the studio made the recording sound more professional. As the project progressed, I learnt several different things with regards to the microphones, most notably the best way to achieve high quality sound - speaking directly into the microphone from a close distance -
iPhone
Another technology that I used during the recording of my final piece was my iPhone 4S. I used it to record my vox pop as the lower sound quality made it sound more realistic and professional. During the process, I learnt that the most important aspect was not the content of the speech but rather the quality of the sound as I really wanted it to reflect being in a town centre environment. In the future, I would consider doing more recordings in order to give me more flexibility. -
Adobe Premiere Pro
In order to edit my news bulletin, I used the program Adobe Premiere Pro. I had no previous experience of Adobe Premiere Pro so I was learning as I went along. At first I found it quite difficult but by the end I was comfortable with the program and had learnt not only how to put the clips together but how to layer the sound and adjust the volume. I would be comfortable using it again if I was to repeat the project. -
Freesound
One final technology that I used during my project was the website Freesound to add the sound effects and create the jingle. I found the site very quick and easy to use and had no problem finding and downloading the different sound effects and jingles. The only aspect that I would consider improving would be to download different variations of the same sound effect or jingle and then simply select the best one. I think this would have given me more flexibility when it came to adding te clips.
