Estimating Future Risk
Humans are pretty bad at estimating risk. We make a lot of decisions based on our estimates or risk. As humans we pay most of our attention to the risks that are right in front of us. The risks that are farther away are don't get to us the way that the ones we face now do.

Human risk evaluation
We mostly pay attention to stuff in front of us and now away from us. A lot of people will try to fix something after it happens when it could have been prevented before it happened . -
Two allies in considering long-term impacts
We need to recognize that our brains mess us up so we have to work around it. Our brains focus on short term gain and won't see long term risk very well.
