Also greatly expanded Spanish empire through colonization. -

Member of the House of Burbon, and married to Marie de Medici. A, pulled France from an economic crisis, showed strength in troubled times. -

September 16, 1598 to March 31, 1621. Left throne due to death. Created Imperial Proconsuls, fought Duke of Lerma, expulsion of the Moriscos, Truce with Dutch and English. Related to Hapsburgs and Margret of Austria. A, did nothing to jeprodize Spain, created peace where there was war. -

Reduced the power of the Hugeunots, ruled during Thirty Years War, punished protestant nobles who planned to revolt, won battle of La Rochelle. From the House of Burbon, married to Anne of Austria, mothered by Marie de Medici. C, defended country from outside invaders in Thirty Years War but oppressed protestants living in country. -

Ruled from February 21, 1613 to July 12, 1645 ended by death. Peace of Stolbovo, Treuce of Deulino, End of the time of Troubles, Allied with Sweden. Related to House of Romanov. A, created times of peace where none existed. -
Philip IV
Rule ended by death, from March 31, 1621 to September 17, 1665. Ruled during the Thirty Years War, claimed victory at the Battle of the Downs, ended the Iberian Union, and lost the spanish treasure fleet. Member of the Hapsburg family, married both Elisabeth of France and Mariana of Austria. B, did well to protect country and families honor in the Thirty Years War, however the loss of the spanish treasure fleet was devastating to the already struggling economy. -

Ruled from March 27, 1625 to January 1, 1649 ended by his execution. English civil war, Second English civil war, Bishops war, Commonwealth of England. Related to House of Stuart, Henrietta Maria of France. F, worked poorly with parliament, failed to rule and keep peace in her own country. -

Ruled from May 29, 1630 to February 6, 1685 ended by death in battle of Worchester. Charles English parliament, English Bill of Rights, secret Treaty of Dover, Rye House plot. Related to House of Stuart, Catherine of Braganza. B, worked well with parliament, went behind countries back for Treaty of Dover. -

Longest rule of any European monachry, presided during the war of Spanish Succession, the Franco-Dutch War and improved France's finacial situation. From the house of Burbon, related to Anne of Austtria. A, greatly helped his country through a time of war and didn't put them in debt in the process. -

Ruled from November 4, 1650 to March 8, 1702 ended by his death. Battle of the Boyne, Treaty of Westminster, Act of Seclusion, English Restoration. Related to House of Orange-Nassau, Mary of England II. B, ruled with Mary II, fought well in wars, vital in English restoration. -
Oliver Cromwell
Ruled from December 16, 1653 to September 3, 1658 ended in his death. Rump Parliament, English Civil War, Charles I sentenced to death for Treason, not a true Monarch of England. Related to Elizabeth Bourchier. B, took power from an incompetent monarch, commonwealth policy. -
Charles II
Rule ended by death, from September 17, 1665 to November 1, 1700. Charles II of Spain was the last Hapsburg to sit upon the throne, his death lead to the War of Spanish Succession, lost control of Portugal and produced no heir. Member of the Hapsburg family, mother was Mariana of Austria. F, failed to maintain the lands of the kingdom and ended his royal blood line. -

Ruled from 5/7/1682 to 2/8/1725 ended by death. Bulavin Rebellion, Azov Campaigns, Founded first Russian navy base, Rebellion of the Streltsy. Related to House of Romanov. A, captured the first warm water port, truely began to modernize Russia. -

Ruled from February 6, 1685 to December 23, 1689 ended due to death during the Glorious Revolution. English Bill of Rights, Hanoverian succession, Glorious Revolution, Declaration of Indulgence. Related to House of Stuart, Anne Hyde. C, didn't do much, English bill of rights was good, lost control (Hanoverian succession and glorious revolution). -

Initially had claim to French throne, resigned it to sit upon Spanish throne, ended rule by death. Ruled from November 16, 1700 to January 14, 1724. Came into power during the War of Spanish Succession, first Spanish leader from the House of Burbon, leader during the Wars of Polish and Austrian Succession as well. Philip II grandson, also related to King Louis XIV of France. B, maintained control throughout wars, resigned from French power shows wisdom. -

Ruled from 10/12/1711 to 10/20/1740 ended by death. War of Austrian Succession, War of Spanish Succession, Pragmatic Sanction of 1713, Mutual Pact of Succession. Related to House of Hapsburg. B, fought well to try and expand empire. -
