When in battle knights couldn't tell who's side they were on when attacking, but after the invention of the crest on top of the knight's amour, the technology used in battle changed so the knights had more of a chance of winning the battles for their kings. -

The Siege of Constantinople marked the end of one era and the beginning of another. Knights was used as soldiers, the would be on horseback or on foot and would be covered in heavy metal amour and would carry any steal weapon of their choice.
