    Fall of Rome Empire
    The Fall of Rome caused the Dark Ages (Middle Ages). It made people afraid to travel. Rome was sacked (destroyed) by a germanic tribe. The roman Empire started to crumble and fall apart. Territories and areas that used to be protected by Roman Military had no protection. Whenever trade and movement decreases, so does money, wealth, and income.

    Feudalism Starts
    During this time there was alot of attacts which made them build walls. There were kings and nobles. They were poor and they granted lands to people. This is important because Feudalism was the social structure prevalent in Europe from the Fall of the Roman Empire to the Renaissance. It provided security in the absence of sovereign nations.

    The Crusades
    One of the cause is that the Muslims take the Holy Land. There are a few affects. One of those affect is that people felt safe while traveling and trading. Feudalism weakens because there no reason to be stuck in one place while they are wanting to travel and trade. This is important because Muslims preserves the Greek and Roman writings, so this is what started the Renaissance. Also, because it put Europeans in contact with the more advanced Muslim civilization.

    The Renaissance
    The Renaissance started at Italy, later spreading to the rest of Europe during the 1300's (1350-1550 A.D.) Renaissance means rebirth. Greek and Roman was the rebirth of the Renaissance. Bubonic Plague killed 1/3 of the Europeans. They promoted art, humanity, and education. This event is so important because it was the revival of learning & knowledge. Another reason why this is important because scholors rediscovered classical texts of ancient Greece & Rome. Art, science, & invention flourished.

    The printing press was invented by Gutenburg in the 1450ish. Bibles were printed during this time period. The printing press is so important because it made books more accessible and it was a faster way to copy a book. This event spread to the Renaissance. Also, this was one of the cause of the Catholic Church.

    Protestant Reformation

    Protestant Reformation
    The Protestant Reformation was caused by Martin Luther, during the 16th century (1517). During this time period Martin Luther was the German Catholic Monk. He wanted to reform the Catholic Church (to chagne/make better). Martin Luther nails 95 thesis to the door. One affect was that religious persection followed. This is important because the Roman Catholic Church was falling apart and many church officials were getting corrupt. Also, because many protestant churches emerged.

    Charlemagne
    Charlemegne also know as Charles the Great was the biggest ruler during the Middle Ages & he was the first ruler. Charlemegne ruled the most land during the Middle Ages. "One important thing that Charlemagne did for the world was to turn his castle into a learning center - inviting scholars from all over the world to take up residence there. Charlemagne used his scholars to create illuminated manuscripts that preserved knowledge during the Dark Age," believed Phillip Martin.
