    Korean War Started
    United States
The Korean War was one of the most significant events in U.S. history. Starting in 1950, the Korean war was a huge feud which is still going on. We were over there to stop the north from attacking the south. If the north took power, the south would have become a communist country. This war ended in 1953 because of an armistice or truce signed by different countries. We sent about 150,00 troops and lost only about 7,800 soldiers.

    Korean War Starts #2
I know that seems like a lot but for a war it really isn’t. Again, this war had a huge impact on the United States timeline.
The Korean War was had a big impact on then and today. For example, back in the 50s, we were stationed in Korea to stop the north and this went on for 3 years, killing about 7,800 people. This did cause many women to go into work in shops, offices, etc. Today, this feud is sort of still going on only we are not at war like we were.

What I am saying is that we still are protecting the south from the north and causing them to become a communist country. In fact, we still have some troops stationed over in Korea to help protect the south. There about 28,500 soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines there. This war was really important and will live in infamy.

  • Warsaw Pact Created

    Warsaw Pact Created
May 14, 1955 was a very assuring day for people all across the world. This was because the main purpose of the Warsaw pact was to protect the people. It protected all of the countries involved in WWII from ever going to war again. The pact allowed some long wanted relief for everyone involved in WWII. It did this with an organization for mutual defense. When any country in the pact was attacked, they would receive defense.

It also served as a kind of counteraction to NATO. Thanks to the Warsaw pact a war between the counties in it is much less likely. That’s how the Warsaw pact affect us now.

    Warsaw Pact Created #2
This meant that they didn’t have to worry about rearming themselves too much because they knew that the other countries could help. That’s how the Warsaw pact affected history then.
How did this affect us now? The pact ended in 1991, so it doesn’t still provide protection. It did stop many possible wars though. It also allowed more time for countries to repair ties and the destruction caused by the war. It also built up trust between us, so now we can rely more eachother.
  • Soviets Stop Hungary Revolt

    Soviets Stop Hungary Revolt
1956 is a time that people in Hungary will remember. For, the Soviet Union stopped a revolt in Hungary during the year. This was important then because it meant that people in Hungary didn’t agree with the Soviet Union. Also, the revolt would have possibly led to more people following in their footsteps. Russia was weakened from the war and might not be able to stop a major revolution, and could’ve been overthrown. This led to people in the Soviet Union being worried.

Also, the had to spend money to stop them, and at this point money wasn’t too common thanks to the war. That’s how history was affected by Russia stopping a revolt in Hungary.
You can easily see how this affects us now. First of all, if Hungary had succeeded then there could have been a huge change in government. This could’ve have been contained in Hungary but it could’ve been much bigger. Russia would have completely changed. But, nevertheless, Russia stopped them.

Now Russia changed less violently. Hungary also stayed the same. So, Russia stopping a revolt in Hungary ended up leading them to the governments they have now.

Sputnik is known as one of the biggest events for science and will always be remembered. That’s the futuristic Sputnik’s effect on the past.
How did Sputnik affect us now? As previously stated, Sputnik was a huge step for space programs. Now everyone knew that it could be done, man-made objects could go to space! Nowadays satellites are something we can’t live without, and Sputnik was the start.
  • Launch of Sputnik #3

    Launch of Sputnik #3
Thanks to the breakthrough of Sputnik we have 2,271 satellites orbiting Earth giving us information. It also led us to eventually launching a man onto the moon. Sputnik has led to practically everything we do in space today. That’s how Sputnik was a giant leap for mankind.
