    The Minamata disease is a chronological disease which is caused by severe mercury poisoning. This disease was first discovered in Minamata, Japan, due to poisonous industrial waste leaking into the water which Japanese fishermen caught fish and shellfish. This led to a widespread epidemic to all who consumed the poisoned seafood.

    The Kyoto protocol is a protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and it is a protocol signed in 1997 aimed to fight global warming. It was adopted on 11 December 1997 in Kyoto, Japan, and came into force on 16 February 2005.
